| 29.06.2007 | Near real-time access to current RS data |
Many government agencies, research centers, universities, and private companies are now making use of satellites in low earth orbit to provide near real-time products for a variety of applications including weather forecasting, wildfire detection, natural resource management, aviation safety, sea ice monitoring, and many others. The satellite constellation includes POES, MetOp, Fengyun 1, SeaWIFS, Terra, Aqua, and DMSP. These satellite provide near global coverage every 24 hours at medium resolution, ranging from 250 to 1000 meters. In this session we encourage presentations and discussion on the status and capabilities of the sensor suites onboard the current constellation of satellites, and also the software and algorithms used to process the data acquired. Of particular interest are novel applications of real-time data for decision making in critical natural hazard assessment and management. |
