Landsat-7 images library
is a project, which is supported by its participants. To become
a Landsat-7 program participant you should pay the entrance
fee (one Landsat-7 image). So the library increases. After
joining the program every participant can get any image he/she
prefers for the lowest price (as copy price).
Landsat-7 satellite
On the 15-th of April, 1999 the US Landsat-7 satellite was
successfully launched. It is a combine project of the US Geological
Service (USGS), The US National Aerospace Agency (NASA) and
the US National Ocean and Atmosphere Agency (NOAA).
All information which is received from Landsat satellites
is widely used for economic, political military problems solutions.
Particularly it is used in geography, oceanography, hydrology,
geology, natural resources study, mapping, environment control.
The main instrument which is set on the satellite is a multispectral
optical and mechanical scanning radiometer ETM+ (Enhanced
Thematic Mapper Plus). This instrument is capable of providing
high-resolution imagery of the Earth surface in 8 spectral
bands: with 15 m resolution in one panchromatic band; 30 m
in 6 visible, near and short-wave infrared bands and 60 m
in one thermal infrared band. Swath width in all spectral
bands is 185 km.
Landsat-7 images includes an unlimited permission
to make copies and distribution. |
